Booking & Estimates
We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance, especially during peak moving season (May through September). However, we understand that moves don't always go as planned. If you need last-minute help, give us a call and we'll do our best to fit you in.
Our quoting process is simple. Fill out the form on our contact page or give us a call at 360-712-1233. We'll ask about your truck size, load, timeline, and any special requirements. Within 24 hours, you'll receive a detailed estimate with no hidden fees or last-minute surprises.
Our estimates are based on the information you provide and our experience with similar loads. The final cost may vary depending on actual time spent, access conditions, stairs, and any additional services requested on move day. We'll always communicate any changes before they happen.
Life happens. Just give us a call as soon as you know your plans have changed and we'll work with you to find a new date that works. We understand that moving timelines can shift, and we'll do our best to accommodate your new schedule.

No, we provide the labor. You rent the truck, PODS, U-Pack, or storage container, and our crew handles all the loading and unloading. This saves you money on truck rental and gives you full control over your moving timeline. We work with U-Haul, Penske, Budget, and all major container services.
Yes! We offer professional packing services and can supply boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and furniture pads. Let us know when you request your quote, and we'll include packing materials in your estimate. If you prefer to supply your own, that works too.
Absolutely. Our team has the experience and equipment to safely load and unload pianos, safes, hot tubs, pool tables, and other heavy or awkward items. We use furniture dollies, straps, and protective padding to get the job done without damage to your belongings or your home. Let us know about any specialty items when you request your quote.
Yes. We offer a 5% discount for seniors and a military discount for veterans and active-duty service members. Just mention it when you call or note it on your quote request.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Payment is due upon completion of the job.
For local jobs within Whatcom County, travel time is typically included in your estimate. For longer-distance or regional jobs, we'll factor travel into your quote upfront so there are no surprises.
Licensing & Insurance
Absolutely. First Response Moving carries general liability insurance (US DOT #5226910). Your belongings are protected while our crew is working. We provide professional moving labor only; you rent the truck or container, and we handle the loading and unloading.
We take every precaution to protect your belongings with furniture pads, straps, and careful handling. In the rare event that damage occurs while our crew is working, our insurance covers it. Document any issues with your crew on move day and we'll work with you to resolve it quickly.
No. Our moving crew is a consistent, trained team, not day laborers pulled from a temp agency. You'll get the same professional crew from start to finish, and they know how to handle your belongings with care.
Service Areas
We serve all of Whatcom County, including Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Blaine, Custer, Nooksack, Deming, Glacier, Acme, and Sumas. We also handle jobs throughout Skagit County (Mount Vernon, Burlington, Sedro-Woolley) and Snohomish County (Everett, Marysville, Mukilteo, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Stanwood). Whether you're loading for a local move or a cross-country relocation, we'll be there.
Yes. We load and unload for long-distance and out-of-state moves; you handle the driving or coordinate with your container service, and we'll make sure your truck is packed tight and safe. We can also coordinate with moving helpers at your destination if you need unloading help on the other end.
Moving in the Pacific Northwest means rain. We come prepared with furniture pads, shrink wrap, and floor runners to keep your belongings and your home dry. Upholstered items are wrapped before they leave your home, and we lay down protective coverings in high-traffic areas.
Move Day
We'll send you a detailed checklist when you book. In general, make sure walkways are clear, valuables are set aside, and any items you don't want moved are clearly labeled. Have your truck or container ready and accessible; our crew will handle the rest.
For local moves, yes, the same crew can load and unload. For long-distance moves, we'll load your truck and can help coordinate a crew at your destination for unloading if needed. We'll explain the plan when we provide your estimate.
It depends on the size of your load and access conditions. A studio or one-bedroom typically takes 2 to 4 hours. A two- to three-bedroom home usually takes 4 to 8 hours. Larger loads or jobs with stairs, long carry distances, or specialty items will take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when we quote your job.
Payment Methods Accepted
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, cash, and checks. Payment is due upon completion of the job.
